You've seen the commercials for those green bags that are supposed to keep your fruits and vegetables fresh several times longer than normal?
They don't work. I put an eggplant in one and two days later it had fuzzy mold all over it. The instructions say the bags are not to get wet and if they do (if the fruit or veggies perspire) to wipe them out. I put strawberries in a bag and they sweated so bad they turned to mush in two days. My tomatoes rotted in the bag in 5 days.
Do NOT buy this product.

Seriously? Good to know. We've been looking at those.
Hello Steve,
I believe your egg plant was dirty with bacteria before you inserted it in to Debbie Meyer's Green Bag. I suggest cleaning all produce, then place a clean paper towel in the bag too; placing the produce in a properly controlled temperature refrigerator. You should not have any trouble from then on. I've been using and selling Green Bags since 2001 - love them, and I know I have saved thousands of dollars by using the Debbie Meyer's Green Bags and not throwing out pricy produce. If you have any questions, my website if full of tips. www.bright-star-promotions.com and then click on the green bag box. Or if you wish, call me (502) 423-7827 and I'll be happy to answer any of your questions.
Eat fresh fruits and veggies every day.
Smiles, Valerie
Thanks, I will give that advice a try.
Don't try this on "moisture free" banana bunches. Mine were green tipped and black by day 2. UGH! They should specify that only very dry fruits and vege's might work, otherwise you will be wiping moisture out of the back multiple times daily. Refrigeration of banana's is a no-no. Put them out to let ripen slowly and naturally.
I just bought and used these bags to store all of my produce...which is NOT cheap. The box that the bags came in said to "store as you normally would" and just to fold the bag over. Well, I followed the directions and to my dismay...all of my produce turned mushy and moldy (two different types of tomoatoes, peaches, bananas, brocoli and cauliflower). I was very dissappointed and would NOT recommend these bags to anyone.
After using the green bags for several years I found a better bag at MyProduceBags.com
Bags work great. Bed, Bath @ Beyond, #9.00. Save with 20% coupon. I have used, washed and reused these bags many times over months. Store your items when they are clean and dry. Put half a paper towel in with items like bananas that create lots of moisture. Things last weeks and still taste fresh. It says they last through 10 uses. I have used mine many more times. Make sure to dry bags well after washing. Stretch your dollar.
I have been using the green bags for a very long time and they work great if used properly, and they also last a lot longer than 10x each. You have to make sure the produce is dry, so wrap in a paper towel and don't close the bag completely shut. Don't even fold it over completely. Leave a tiny bit of breathing room. I just purchased the green boxes too and love them.
Keep in mind too that if you're buying produce that's already on it's way to rotting, putting it in the bags won't extend it's life. So make sure you buy only the freshest fruits and vegetables you can find.
